Teaching Philosophy at SPEAK UP.

For success in life and in work children require belief in themselves. Drama study provides confidence, self awareness and creativity, while developing language skills. Above all it’s FUN!

In the SPEAK UP creative-play/performance environment children feel free to explore their own capabilities without fear of judgment. We want our students to feel they can be anyone and do anything because discovering you have this ability within yourself at an early age is a gift. The confident child who communicates well, and believes in their own ability, is well placed for success at each level of development and as they enter their adult years. 

For Children, Speech and Drama Class is just great fun. It’s a chance for students to move out from behind a desk and into a wonderful world of make believe. For many, this will be their first experience of not learning someone else’s idea’s but of creating their own and their confidence will quickly blossom.

For parents, the class is a wonderful learning tool. Targeted game playing, improvisation, storytelling, costuming and performance encourage social and academic development through exploring emotions, language, physicality and fun.
Discovery through performance widens children’s outlook and fills their imagination, providing the tools to communicate confidently and effectively.

When we succeed in drama class, we succeed not only in creating a magical experience for a child, we succeed in putting in place the tools for academic achievement, social integration, and a happy and well rounded adult.
